On the table: Â
Tuna Carbonara @ PhP130
Baked Mussles @ PhP 150
Sole Fillet @ PhP 160
Dark Molten Lava @ PhP 90
Burger Steak Rice @ PhP 160
Soda: PhP 30 per glass
Dining let down:Â
1. Our first choices were not available :(Â
2. The baked mussels were palatable but not “wow”.
3. The waiting period for the food took more than 15 mins.
4. I don’t understand why the Sole fillet (fish)topped with bagoong is served with alamang rice.
4. The most enjoyable food was the Dark Molten Lava which unfortunately is still not a WOW but would do considering the first dishes we ate.
5. The Burgersteak… I like Jollibee’s better no kidding. At least the mashed potato tasted like mashed potato.
However, thumbs up for the ambiance and interior design of Mogwai.I would do no justice if I try to describe it but truly the interior was an interesting combination of unique items. The second floor by the way serves as the cinema though […]

The rise of the malls certainly declined the family days at the park. When I was a kid I remember my parents bringing us to parks on Saturdays or Sundays. Gone are those days with the rise of these malls. Everywhere, adjacent, across MALLS are just everywhere.
              Â
On those days I don’t get to surf, it would be nice to find a place to just relax– quiet and most of all away from over crowded ( considering there are already numerous malls!)Â malls.
I graduated years ago from UP but I find it rewarding to go back once in a awhile especially on a Sunday where the oval is closed for joggers, bikers skaters and whoever, who wants to unwind. The setting becomes a perfect place to contemplate while you do your thing; a sanctuary for those bugged by everday mayhem of the city most especially by an 8-5 job.
There is a certain soltitude in walking at the park […]

Destination: The Coffee Shop Restaurant
Where: Subic, Zambales ( note its not whithin the parameters of the freeport)
What they serve: Big Tacos either in soft shell or hard shell as the house’s specialty
Cost: PhP 70
Taste: REALLLY something to look forward to
The Coffee House Restaurant really does serve big, no, humunguos tacos at a very cheap price. Seems too good to be true but all your doubts shall be resolved once you get a glimpse of this Mexican tweaked to Filipino taste taco. An order can be shared by 2 already.
It’s not just the shell, its big such that even the beef, veggies and cheese are “big” in serving making your first time an overwhelming dining experience. You’ll quit munching on the stuff not because its “nakakaumay” rather its because you’re full after gorging on half of it.Â
Other dishes too are served at the restaurant– the kare-kare is not bad.

Pa-Nay Church is a fifteen-minute drive from the city proper of Capiz.Capiz is the first settlement, specifically Pa-Nay, in the island by the Spaniards led by Miguel Lopez de Legazpi around 1560s. The church itself is panache of what is left of the Spanish colonial rule.
Â
The catch: Climb the 63 steps to the largest bell in Asia, which weights 1034 tons, made out of 70 sacks of copper coins. The church bell has been around along with eight other bells since December 21, 1878.Â
The bells still function, rang everyday during mass sending its message as far as eight kilometers. Beside the church is a convent, which used to be a Museum displaying old-aged religious statues made from ivory of the Spanish period. Too bad, the convent was looted a few years back closing the semi-museum convent to the public.

Get that tan, at the same time rave about riding the waves to your friends.Â
Summer’s up in two months. What do you have in mind? As a surf addict, of course, i’d recommend SURFING.
Where: Zambales and La Union might be the last place you want to surf this summer. No waves at this time of year for those 2 spots. IF you want to have fun under the sun and bask in the glory of surfing, and IF you are willing enough to travel south AND pass through the “bituka ng manok”, get set and find your road to Daet, Bicol.
Road less travelled
By land:Â Â A choice of taking the bus, driving your way to Bicol, or taking a plane
There are many bus liners offering trips to Daet. I believe the most popular one is Superliners. Mind however, taking the bus means traveling for 8-10 hours compared to bringing your own car. You can definitely reduce the travel time. Here’s […]

Some years back, a group of friends and I went to Zambales. We ended up in the town of San Narciso. We planned to go to Iba, (which was an additional 45 km apart from the 140-160 km ride from Manila) but since we were only scheduled for a day trip, we decided to spend the day in Crystal Beach in San Narciso.
Honestly, the resort was (and apparently still) not impressive but what got our attention was surfing.
It was that day in 2003 that prefaced my journey to the waves.
Years after, I found myself back in Zambales at the same resort. This time, I have become a weekend warrior braving the waves bit by bit.
Every weekend me, my Mahal and Master Z (our idol Zambales local surfer) try to check various spots with great waves, may it be 1, 2, 3 or an overhead, as long as its nothing like we have ridden the previous week–always new, always a different ride.

Pangasinan sings praises of its Hundred Islands and truly, it is a scenic spot worth more than hundreds, it’s priceless.
Most travel guides to the Philippines never miss out the pride of Pangasinan. How can anyone? Though summer attracts a handful of visitors , local and foreign alike, it is never a wasted effort to come and spend a day or two at Hundred Islands.
Legends that speak of the islands continue to give the place a certain charm and enigma. One wonders if life, apart from the shrubs, live on these pieces of earth. Passing each island keeps the spectator in reverie.

The heat of the sun will mean nothing once you see these modern warriors parading the streets of Iloilo.
Aside from the famous Ati-atihan festival every January, Western Visayas also boasts of its Dinagyang Festival– a weeklong celebration of merriment to honor the Black Sto. Niño.
Rooted in the arrival of the image of Sto. Niño from Cebu City (brought by Fr. Suplico Ebness, OSA to Iloilo), Dinagyang Festival has become a yealry celebration since 1968.

Who would have thought AKLAN shelters a scenic spot,
precious enough making the best moments in your life.
I’m talking about Sampaguita Gardens Resort in New Washington, Aklan. With an affordable entrance fee, you get a chance to tour the Asian-Inspired Mansion of the Precious Moments founder Sam Butcher, a museum that tells the story of how PreciousMoments came to be, a life-size doll house where Christmas is celebrated all year long, a butterfly farm, a newly built chapel as a reminder of Precious Moments’ mission “… loving, caring, and sharing”, plus a magical experience that’s worth your while.
     Â
So if you are around Aklan especially just coming from Boracay, take your time and make a trip to Sampaguita Gardens Resort.
